Owners of Lavender-centric businesses and individuals interested in lavender are invited to become members of the Oregon Lavender Association (OLA). Our primary goals are:

  • Promote lavender as a viable, thriving agri-business in Oregon
  • Encourage the general population's interest in lavender and lavender by-products
  • Educate the public about the beneficial properties and applications of lavender
  • Promote the propagation of lavender and contribute to the body of knowledge regarding growing lavender
  • Raise awareness through sponsoring an annual lavender festival and other events throughout the year
  • Encourage a spirit of community and/or charitable giving
  • Provide education and information to our members
  • Raise awareness by sponsoring educational events available to the community

Members have the option of choosing between a basic membership, a marketing membership focused on promoting your lavender business, or an extended membership with inclusion in the annual Oregon Lavender Festival -- a successful, well-attended, and growing festival that has been celebrating all things lavender since 2000.  Attendance has increased dramatically each year.

Benefits

General Membership:

  • Attendance at 4 general membership meetings every year, each with an educational component featuring experts in the industry, demonstrations, presentations, and/or panel discussions
  • Inclusion in an established support network of lavender lovers, lavender growers, experts on lavender cultivation, and lavender craftspeople
  • Information exchange via a members’ website on topics such as regional advice on growing and marketing lavender products
  • Group buying power (plants, landscape cloth, supplies)
  • Access to OLA library of lavender resources
  • Distillation expertise and advice on stills and equipment
  • Inclusion in and access to a directory of all OLA members
  • Membership in a non-profit organization
  • Participation in OLA educational events such as distillation demonstrations, lavender cuisine samples, etc.

Membership + marketing add-on:

  • All the benefits of general membership as detailed above
  • Listing on well attended Oregon Lavender Destinations website and Facebook pages (www.oregonlavenderdestinations.org with link to member’s Web site (with up to 10,500 visitors per month, and an average of Facebook 25,000 page views in summer months)
  • Listing on a full-color Festival map, with 20,000 plus copies distributed to tourism locations, B&Bs, wineries, garden centers, and gathering spots such as restaurants and coffee shops
  • Discounted advertisement rates for OLA marketing publications
  • Membership in a newswire service for shared and individual press releases
  • Wholesale rates on OLA merchandise such as lavender honey, OLA tote bags, etc.
  • Access to low cost OLA-branded promotional materials such as postcards, business cards, etc.
  • Joint selling privileges at venues such as Christmas bazaars, and other events
  • Option of having artists and photographers visit your business and having paintings/photos of your site displayed at the Festival
  • Other benefits under investigation, such as group membership in organizations such as the Oregon Flower Grower’s Assn, online sales via the website, etc.  Let us know your ideas.

Membership + Festival Participation:

  • All benefits included in the General Membership with the marketing add-on as detailed above, plus:
  • Promotion in festival advertising materials such as posters & postcards
  • Featured listing on a full-color Festival map, with 20,000 plus copies distributed to tourism locations, B&Bs, wineries, garden centers, and gathering spots such as restaurants and coffee shops
  • Participation in a well-established, successful, and growing festival with regional advertising exposure
  • Group rates on festival signage, printed and promotional materials
  • Help from other members to identify and promote unique strengths of each business
  • Resource for vendors, bands, food, etc. for individual farms during festival weekend
  • Other benefits under investigation – let us know your ideas

Costs

General Membership: $50/year; General Membership with Marketing Add-on: $200/yr; General Membership with Marketing Add-on and Festival Participation - $300/yr.

Standards for Membership:

  • Interest in growing lavender or lavender products
  • A willingness to show integrity to uphold the Oregon Lavender Festival’s excellent reputation

Standards for participation in the Festival:

  • Lavender related business
  • 100 or more lavender plants in ground or year-round inventory of several varieties of lavender in nursery
  • Adequate parking
  • Public restrooms/facilities (can be portable, handicapped recommended)
  • Agreement to adhere to OLA standards as outlined in OLA bylaws
  • Festival Tour Participants are juried to ensure each meets minimum qualifying standards
